Love, Life and Lemons

Happy September 1st!  We can not believe the summer has flown by and we still have to share with all of you our events from March?!? Running your own business is so wonderful in so many ways but sometimes it feels like there is not enough time in the day to accomplish all that you want to accomplish. So, here after several months of holding onto these beautiful photos we share with all of you Jen’s Bridal shower.

Jen came to us with a pretty green, white and yellow color palette and pops of lemons in mind for her special event.  She had us at yellow and then when she mentioned lemons we were DEFINITELY excited!!  Our favorite fruit infused event was actually our second event of all time Elaine’s Bridal Shower 8 years ago, seriously where does the time go?!!

The overall design included natural wood pieces, garden and floral crates, lots of green foliage and touches of feminine pieces like the rosette lace found on the invitations and glass cylinders, the mercury glass candle holders and of course all the pretty yellow and white roses.  Pops of white and green floral cabbage. green Queen Anne’s Lace and lots of fresh green moss, including the moss backing in our table number frames, completed these looks throughout the room.  The head long head table had a continuous runner of greens in the center and candle pillars on either side.

Our favorite piece was the vintage desk used for the welcome table.  We loved the look of the desk and the white and gold paint coordinated PERFECTLY in this room.  We used the drawers for some beautiful flower arrangements and the top was covered in moss for the place cards to be placed on top.  A simple piece but definitely a nice way to kick off an event don’t you think?

Jen and George had their lovely wedding celebration on July 4th and we wish them nothing but happiness, love, joy and laughter for many, many, many years to come!!

Sam’s Sea Escape Baptism Celebration

What better way to kick off the summer than with a nautical sea celebration?  Although we were not in Greece celebrating, we wanted to bring touches of Greece to Michigan. The celebration kicked off with glass bottle favors filled with olive oil found on the welcome table with silver fish or anchor charms.  Guests found their seats among beautiful white chiavari chairs and pops of blue from the napkins or galvanized buckets with overflowing blue fabric to mimic water.

We used a lot of textured details from heavy duty fishnets to burlap covered risers, throughout the decor and pops of fresh greenery and succulents added a nice sea touch.  When the event started the lights were dimmed and the blue uplighting created the perfect ambiance.  Candles found in glass lanterns surrounded in sand and shells illuminated throughout the room as well as all the little votive candles clustered together.

Our favorite look was created with fishing restaurants found by the sea-all that was missing was the freshly picked octopus:) With hanging lanterns, dangling fish decor, fishnets and rope details, the head table was the focal part of the room.  The height of the fixture did not obstruct the family seating at the table but all the boat, drift wood and candle details found at on the table created a continuous look of interest.

Wishing our dear friends, Maria and Adoni, congratulations on their son’s Baptism! Thank you for letting us be part of Sam’s special day XOXO

With lots of love, hugs and kisses

Sam’s Nautical Baptism Invitations

Good morning!

Well, it is finally summer here in Chicago and we have been so lucky to have clear skies and lots of sunshine!  What better way to celebrate summer than a nautical themed celebration.  We made these custom invitations to kick off Sam’s Baptism Celebration.  The anchor and rope details were found throughout the decor and had us wishing we were on a seaside retreat!

Here’s to another sunny week ahead.

Have a great day everyone!

Evangelene Jorgiana

What a better title for this event than Evangelene Jorgiana’s beautiful name?!?  This little lady celebrated her Baptism in the open and airy garden terrace of Mykonos Greek Restaurant in Niles.  The space is a wonderful canvas for the event to take on it’s own personality, you might remember this event we did there last Spring, and this time we were able to transform it to a very chic and elegant garden with lots of green moss and pretty white blooms.

We worked with Eva’s mom favorite color combination of green and white.  With that in mind, we kicked off the event with one of our favorite floral backing card stock paper and flower details, all in pretty green font, for the invitations.  From there we worked with the very Greek feel of the restaurant to create very full white arrangements with pops of fresh mint, from Angie’s garden of course, and olive branches, which have become quite a floral trend in the past few years!  We take great pride in working with the freshest of flowers and we have to say, these arrangements made us so happy!  The pedestal urns were garden inspired and something you might see in an ancient Greek site. The coordinating table number frames as well as the large green seating chart, were wonderful pops of color and of course adorable photos of baby girl Eva added the perfect personal touch to this event.

Eva was a perfect little lady during her special day and her handsome parents and Godparents couldn’t be any happier!  We wish them Congratulations on her special day, with lots of love, hugs and kisses! Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Above the Crowd, Kyriako’s Baptism Celebration

There have been a lot of pretty girly events up on the Journal lately so it was time to focus on the boys!  We start off the week with a vintage car and airplane themed brunch celebration at the Concorde Banquets.  The event kicked off with custom invitations in bright red envelopes to coordinate with the red airplanes we would use throughout the room.  Once the overall concept for the event has been thought up, sourcing the right materials is truly our favorite part of the event!

From there, cute vintage like airplanes were used for favors  with blue and red burlap bunches filled with Jordan almonds.  The welcome table had a banner of Kyriako’s name pulled by large vintage airplane, to reflect the image found on the invitations, and a little travel moment.

We used wild flowers for the floral arrangements with lots of greenery for different textures and placed them under the airplane fixtures, in the back of the vintage trucks and vases that looked like tree bark.  We love when all the elements of an event come together perfectly and in this case, even our cake topper coordinated just right!

The whole event was so cozy and the vibrant colors were so cheerful!  We could not be happier for Kyriako’s family on his special day!

Have a wonderful week everyone.
