You Float My Boat, Happy Valentine’s Day!

Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day! When we came across this adorable card “You Float My Boat” we couldn’t resist putting a fun tablescape idea together.

For all our non-Greek speaking friends out there, have you ever wondered what does Limani actually mean and stand for? Well, limani means seaport. Our mom Angie grew up in the southern part of Greece about a couple of miles away from a small seaport, the limani at Agrili. Our grandfather use to go fishing from this seaport and our home in Greece is about a mile away from it. We learned to swim there and it was out go to place when we visited for the summer.

Our love of the sea stems from this seaport and when we were deciding on our company name I wanted it to be something we both loved and inspired us. Spending hours looking into the horizon and admiring beautiful sunsets is the best medicine for life. Ideas, wishes and dreams seem possible and achievable. Nature’s color palette is at its finest when the sea and the sky meet.

Whenever we get to incorporate any sea inspired moment into our designs it is such a treat and when we came across this “You Float My Boat” #valentinesday card we fell in love! The place setting was completed with our signature paper boat. It is our company logo-you can’t have a seaport without boats!

For the desserts we purchased Whole Foods’ already made cupcakes but inserted the little gummy fish into the frosting, some to look like they are coming out of the frosting and some to look like they are diving in. These little dessert hacks make for a pretty (and easy) set up!

Sending you lots of love today (and everyday)!

Galentines Day and Love Notes

Galentine’s Day” has transcended from one of our favorite shows, Parks and Recreations, and become established in everyday culture. On February 13, Galentine’s Day, a nonofficial holiday, is celebrated as a day for “ladies celebrating ladies.” So what better way to celebrate a day of friendship than with rosé, sweets and a whole lot of special handwritten notes.

When we saw these adorable mailboxes we couldn’t resist but put together a sweet Galentine’s Day tablescape. We don’t know about you but receiving fun REAL mail, in a world of emails, is the best thing ever! The idea also came full circle when we went looking for our pink, red, and white card stock and coordinating pens and markers, we came across my most favorite piece of mail EVER.

That little message in a bottle was actually delivered via the USPS! Now, you may not know but our love/hate relationship with the post office is real strong. Sending invitations or dealing with stamps shouldn’t be as difficult as it sometimes is but we don’t really have a choice…

I digress, this little Valentine’s Day message was written by my good friend Joanne. She wrote me the sweetest note and after saving this for 16 years (where does the time go?) I re-read it before placing it on the table and it made me cry. Not sad tears, but happy tears. 16 years ago we were in college and life was so different then. Her words were just what I needed to hear and although I LOVED it then, I LOVE it even more now.

When simple invitations don’t get delivered or get lost in the mail, I still am in awe that this little bottle (it is plastic for anyone wondering how it traveled so well) made it to my mailbox. I also feel very strongly that my friend Joanne started Galentine’s Day without even knowing it because celebrating wonderful friendships that get you through all the ups and downs are the most special of all.

So with that, we encourage you to write a note, a letter, whatever “floats your boat” to a friend or loved one and just share the love.

Happy Galentine’s Day everyone!

xoxo,

Patricia’s Pretty Petal Flower Shop

Good morning from sunny Florida! This week has been filled with lots of relaxation, pool/beach time and no schedules! It was a much need vacation and a great way to start the new year!

Since it is truly summertime here we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share with you Patricia’s Pretty Petal Flower Shop photos from Kenny Kim

Evelyn, baby Patricia’s Mom, had a flower shop themed idea in mind and we couldn’t wait to put it together! My mom, Angie, and I have wanted to put together a flower shop theme event for years (before we even started Limani Designs) so it was such a treat putting this together for baby Patricia!

We kicked off the event with our Flower Cart. Guests found their names attached to flower stems in tall galvanized flower buckets. We went with playful pink chalkboards instead of the traditional black ones you find in flower shops.

The tables were made up of different looks including galvanized watering cans, clay pots and wooden planters with galvanized details. We went with burnt orange color linens to soften the very grey room but kept all the florals bright and cheerful.

If you have been following along for a while, you know that besides the welcome moment, the head table is always our favorite to design. This time we went with our tall fixture filled with colorful blooms and hanging candles.

We added fresh flowers to the cake and spread fresh greenery amongst the desserts. The traditional card box was replaced by a large flower shop bucket, we love when everything coordinates!

Here’s hoping for a short winter back home!

Brunch Blooms

The last day of the year calls for the last project of 2018! When our dear client Marina reached out for flowers for her beautiful dining room table for Christmas morning brunch with her family, we couldn’t be more excited! We first met Marina five years ago for her daughter’s Baptism and then again for her son’s Baptism two years ago.

For both events Marina has trusted us from invitations, here and here, to event design and fresh florals and it has been love at first meeting: ) We have been so lucky working with wonderful clients all these years and it was the perfect way to end the year.

For this arrangement we played off all the bright blooms found on the lovely Villeroy & Boch dinnerware set. We incorporated orange ranunculus, purple Dendrobium Orchids and sky blue Delphiniums. The dining room is beautiful and the pop of color was the perfect statement piece on the gorgeous mirrored top table. Since it was Christmas morning, we added different ornaments in the arrangement and fresh evergreens. Don’t the blooms scream happy?

We can’t thank you enough for following along this year, for all the likes, shares and love you continue to show us! We can’t wait to see what the New Year brings our way. Here’t to a happy and healthy New Year everyone! Happy 2019!!!

Christmas Table Decor

This holiday season dress your dining room table up with all the glitz and glam! This year Angie went with a gold, silver, red and green color palette with lots of sparkly details.

First start with a sparkly runner. This one is actually a shawl…yes, a shawl! Here is a great example that would make a great runner

Then add your chargers and dinnerware.  This collection is from Isabelle de Borchgrave Collection by Winterling.  We love how simple and understated this pattern is. Although these pieces are not available any longer, we have linked our two classic favorites if you are in the market to purchase new Christmas dinnerware here and here

From there, add all your decor down the center of the table. By keeping the decorative objects in the center of the table, you allow for extra space for family style dishes to be placed on either side of the place settings.

This year’s table is made up of lots of candlelight, ornaments, sparkly gold birds and twinkling lights. Have fun with the decor! Don’t be afraid to mix colors and textures.

Use cake platters, glass candy jars and glass domes filled with little bottle brush trees, ornaments and star lights to add different height throughout the table. From the light fixture hang ornaments or snowflakes.

Use different glassware to create an eclectic look and colorful glassware, like these red wine goblets, to pick up the red from the dinnerware and napkins.

We tied the napkins into a bow, tis the season for gift giving of course, and placed a snowflake on top to tie in the hanging snowflakes from above and voila! A simple yet festive table to enjoy with friends and family.

Easy as pie 😉 don’t you think?

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!
