Up, Up and Away Part 2

Up, Up and Away Hot Air Balloon Event for Chris’ Baptism Celebration:

We are so excited to share with you the images of the hot air balloon event we did a few months back. Working with Krisanthi was such a joy! Not only was she calm, cool and collective throughout the process, she was also trusting with the design elements we suggested.  The room at EBC was so lovely and the new remodel turned out beautifully. The overall feel of the room was playful, cheerful and true to the season.  We used a lot of natural grasses found during the fall months but also, made sure to have yellow floral to POP!

The welcome table included a printed seating chart framed  and elements of the event.  The custom made hot air balloons we made to hang from the large manzanita trees were decorated with the color palette in mind and the overall design added height throughout the room.  The larger cloth hot air balloons had baskets filled with the natural flower arrangements and for the final design we used vintage like suitcases with small globes.

The room was inviting and bright on a cold, rainy and grey Chicago day.  We wish Nick and Krisanthi congratulations on their son’s special day!

Have a great day, and if you are in the Chicago-land area, stay warm!

xoxo,

Up, Up and Away Chris’ Baptism Celebration

There are certain color palettes that just make us so happy…usually there is a bit of yellow in the combination (for those of you that know me, you know how much I adore the color yellow)!  When I first talked with Krisanthi to plan her son’s baptism, she mentioned she wanted to incorporate hot air balloons into the design.  This was a fun challenge since we did an airplane and hot air balloon themed event a few months before-we wanted baby Chris to have his own unique event with hot air balloons.

From there we took a trip to the event location, East Bank Club in Chicago, to see the colors in the room and what would work best.  This is when EBC was remodeling their event room so we were able to see swatches of the new carpet, wall fixtures and colors that would be used in the room.  We decided to work with a pretty yellow and grey color palette.

For the custom invitations we added a pop of dark navy with knot details to tie in the rope detail on the hot air balloons.  Check back later this week to see the whole design!

Have a wonderful week everyone,

xoxo

Cheers to 40! George’s Surprise Birthday Celebration

Cheers to a New Year!! Wishing everyone much happiness, health and joy in 2015!!! We appreciate all of you that have supported us throughout the past year (as well as the years before) and we hope to continue working with wonderful clients and vendors and creating one of kind, special events. So to that, thank you very much.

When the New Year roles around, I always become a little bit nostalgic. It is a wonderful time to reflect on the past accomplishments, failures, ups and downs. This is the time to make new goals, re-group and focus on what really matters to make sure that our core happiness and well-being reflects what we want to continue doing and creating.

We want this  Journal  to be a reflection of what we love. Writing does not come easy to me, so bare with me, but we do hope you enjoy seeing the events rolled out in this new format and I promise the photos will be just as pretty to view.

We kick off this  first post with a “Cheers to 40 Birthday Celebration” at Ditka’s Restaurant in Oakbrook. This event was so enjoyable to create, not only because it is the third time we have had the pleasure of working with Jamie, but because we are also, obsessed with a black, white and gold color palette. From the black linens to the custom frames, all the details for a masculine surprise birthday celebration came together nicely. We added small floral details and incorporated whiskey filled decanters and faux ice cubes for a splash of crystal. The homemade teaspoon sweet made by George’s mom were perfect for a fall event. We added coordinating cloth to the mason jars and placed them on a gold bar cart to complete the whole look.

White florals made up of full hydrangeas, kale and fall football mums were used throughout the centerpieces.  The white flowers popped against all the dark linens and dark wood pieces. Clusters of pieces together, like the wine bottles or decanter and glasses, make for unique centerpieces and of course lots and lots of candle lights add to the ambiance of the room.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and happy, happy New Year!!

xoxo,
