The Big Fake Wedding Chicago

The Big Fake Wedding® is described as a bridal show alternative complete with an emotional vow renewal ceremony, light bites and a dance-party reception. “Wedding guests” are brides- and grooms-to-be who get to truly experience the wedding vendors in action. We not only met wonderful vendors but had the opportunity to connect with wonderful couples who are getting married in the Chicagoland area.

For this event we had the pleasure of designing the personal flowers, bouquets and boutonnieres for the lovely couple and their friends as well as three table designs.  The inspiration challenge was Peacock and Birds, see challenge and more images here and more images on Ruffled Blog

For the personal flowers we wanted the bouquets to be feathery and a bit bold, just like peacocks, so a mixture of greens and garden roses and sweet peas were used to create this effect.  For the boutonnieres we went with bold hues and a touch of feather as an accent.

The head table consisted of a large hanging fixture that was wrapped with fresh greenery and moss and pops of blue and purple hue florals.  The small floral pieces on the table were placed on sparkly gold sequin table lines form I Do Linens, Tamara is not only the loveliest to work with and their collection of linens are just magnificent!  We completed the look with two vintage chairs from Erasistable Vintage Rentals to play off the pretty color palette.

The gold candelabra look was made with bold floral colors.  We wanted this table to be filled with gold and rose gold accents so we  went with rose gold flatware and gold chargers.  The bright blue textured linens popped against the gold chairs and each place setting had a small feather on it.

The last look was made up different size silver birdcages filled with different florals. We wanted to play with different textures here as well lots of fresh greenery and moss.  The yellow made for a great pop of color against all the dark grey and silvers.  The linens were subtle textured light grey and the flatware was a dark pewter as well as dark black glass chargers.

Overall we couldn’t be happier being part of this wonderful community and truly enjoyed every minute of the whole evening!  Besides the fun environment at Pinstripes Chicago  the food, desserts and music were perfect and how fun is the glow stick send off for the couple at the end of the night?!!

Thank you The Big Fake Wedding Team!  You were a pleasure to work with!  Check out their site to see if they will be at a city near you, definitely an awesome experience!

Rose Garden, Anna and Greg’s Wedding Celebration

We don’t think there is ever a bad time of year to have a wedding but there is something about later Spring early Summer weddings that we just love! From pretty blush pink roses to full lush green accents, this Rose Garden inspired wedding for Anna and Greg was one special occasion.  Anna is my sister-in-law and to have the opportunity to design her wedding (or any family event in that case) is just a little bit more special.

The overall design consisted of lots of natural looking arrangements or clusters of similar style roses put together with pops of gold and lots of fresh greenery for texture.  The gold candelabras were wrapped in greenery with a large arrangement at the bottom and gold pedestals for the candle holders added another element of design as well as touches of sweet lace throughout.

Anna’s wedding bouquet is probably one of our most favorite with all the pretty soft colors but filled with different textures.  The soft color palette throughout the room was also found through the uplighting, it is difficult to see, but the room had such a soft and romantic glow with lots of candlelight.

You all probably know by now that we just love a long banquet style table and in this case we had three to design.  We wanted to balance out the room with some height so we created two tall long fixtures wrapped in fresh greenery and hanging floral, candles and crystals.  The fresh floral arrangements at the bottom were made up of large fresh white hydrangeas, a variety of roses and different greens.  Of course a continuous floral runner was a must for the head table, with an abundance of floral and candles in different candle holders to create an eclectic and romantic ambiance.

We can’t forget to mention Anna and Greg’s adorable and cute daughter, that probably stole the show with her cuteness, Maria!  The pretty flower girls were made of up girly tulle dresses and the young gentlemen wore bowties.

We wish Anna and Greg a lifetime of happiness filled with much love, laughter and joy!

Love you guys!

xoxo,

“You are my Sunshine” Emme’s 1st Birthday Celebration

Bright, cheerful and sweet is how we would describe sweet Emme’s 1st birthday party!  Inspired by the song “You are my Sunshine” this party was one cute celebration!

From our custom invitations, to the cheerful floral arrangements and the most adorable sweet cake, the bright color palette of pink and yellow was found throughout the room.  Even the guest of honor wore a dress with a pretty lemon pattern!

Guests entered the space at Pinstripes Northbrook with a welcome sign that coordinated with the invitations.  From there guests could enjoy fresh lemonade from our lemonade stand filled with fresh floral.  We created a fun photo backdrop with coordinating pink and yellow props so guests of all ages could enjoy throughout the party.  The table designs were made up of pink or yellow linens, fresh cheerful floral in yellow pitchers with pops of fresh lemons.

Helene, Emme’s wonderful mom, had put together the sweetest favors from Emme’s old food jars.  Each jar was filled with sweet personalized M&Ms and finished with a custom label on top.  The cakes by Jennifer at Madame Gateau Cakes were too cute to eat!! Look at that detail!! Swoon!

Wishing Emme a lifetime of happy celebrations!  Happy almost summer everyone!!

Olivia’s Oh So Pretty Baptism Celebration

O is for Olivia and her Oh So Pretty Pink Butterfly Garden, a mouthful yes, we know but when you combine an adorable baby girl and pretty pink florals and butterflies you get a pretty amazing Spring party!

Working with Marianna for her daughter’s Baptism celebration was such a treat!  Not only was she open to something new but she trusted our vision from the beginning.  The tables at Greek Islands Lombard are narrow so the design always has to be contained to a certain area.  We wanted the white planter boxes to be FILLED with pretty white and pink flowers and greens to create fresh looking gardens.  We can’t stress how greenery can be the perfect accessory to the correct arrangement!

We kicked off the party with a tall hanging fixture and hung all the place cards on ribbons.  The hanging fixture was wrapped in fresh greenery and had fresh flowers hanging as well.  We incorporated white watering cans, filled with pink floral, on the round tables because you can’t have a garden and not water it properly:)  To keep with the design, we “planted” baby Olivia’s name in a garden as well, the centerpiece for the dessert table.  Candles nestled in green moss and adorned with pink butterflies completed all the looks.

Wishing Olivia and her family congratulations on her special day! Here’s hoping all this rain will bring us the prettiest blooms in May!

Happy middle of the week everyone!

Sophia’s Sophisticated Soiree, Baptism Celebration

Baby Sophia’s Sophisticated Soiree was one sweet and elegant event with lace, pearls and feather details.  We had the pleasure of working with Sophia’s Mom, Stacy, for her older sister’s Katerina’s Bright Butterfly Garden Baptism,  a few years back and we were delighted to put this event together for this wonderful family!

This event included a lot of wonderful pieces that Stacy had already purchased and we wanted to play off the beautiful rich tones of the linens, chargers and the colors found in the ballroom at Georgio’s.  We used the palest of pink mini garden roses and creamy roses with a touch of dusty miller and lots of fresh gold eucalyptus.

The head table and the welcome table had the fluttery table linen that we love and we made sure that the pieces on the head table were placed on gold candle holders to make it a little bit different from all the round tables found throughout the room.  The pearl backings on the four chairs at the head table were the sweetest touch and played off the pearl details perfectly.

The cylinders found throughout the room either had pearls submerged in water with floating candles or pearly details placed on the outside of the glass. There was a lot of pretty soft candlelight throughout the room found from the floating candles or in the gold mercury glass holders.

The dessert table had Sophia’s name in the center and small clusters of gold vases filled with small fresh arrangements and pearl details.  The coordinating Well Wishes vase was decorated with lace wrapped letters, pearls and a large ostrich feather plume.

Wishing baby Sophia and her family congratulations on her special day!  Stacy, it was a pleasure working with you!
